A congressionally mandated U.S. commission on weapons of mass destruction plans to report its findings early next month, the panel announced yesterday (see GSN, Sept. 23).
The Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism was created in May to continue the work of the Sept. 11 commission, which recommended a slate of antiterrorism measures.
The newer commission has scheduled a Dec. 3 press conference to announce its results, following meetings with more than 250 experts worldwide (Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism release, Nov. 18).
